CotM: DJ Candy Supergroove (MySims) Sunday, Feb 7 2010

Name: DJ Candy Supergroove
Job: Club DJ
Interest: Fun

So, I recently replayed MySims Agents. I’m a huge fan of the MySims series. Really. I absolutely adore them. They’re both cutesy and funny and have a good gameplay. So, I realized I was slightly late with a CotM, and I couldn’t figure out who to use. So I went with someone from the last game that I played. Then I couldn’t decide because these games have a huge cast. So, I decided I DJ Candy. Because she is just epic.

In all the games, Candy has a music-related job. In the three games that I have, she’s owner of Club Candy where she also DJs in two while she’s a famous DJ and has a concert/island named for her: Candypalooza. As a character, Candy’s pretty awesome. She knows she’s good at dj-ing and dancing while she also has a super sensitive ear for music. Plus, she just loves to party and that’s what she lives for. It makes her beyond epic. Let her have Zack and Sapphire and the three can dance all night long.

The Book of Eli Sunday, Feb 7 2010

Starring: Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals, Frances de la Tour, Michael Gambon, Tom Waits
Director: Hughes Brothers
Written By: Gary Whitta
Year: 2010
Genre: Post-apocalyptic
Run Time: 118 min.

Last Wednesday, I went and watched The Book of Eli with Sarah, Braden and Justin. We were originally planning on Legion but then randomly switched it at the last minute because we knew how Legion was probably gonna go and we had no clue about much of The Book of Eli, so we were curious. Plus it came out about a month ago which meant the theater would be pretty empty and so we could be loud, like typical teenagers. Yes, that is our logic. This post potentially contains spoilers. Don’t read if you don’t want something spoiled.

We open the movie with a man named Eli. With him is a book that he is constantly carries and reads at least once a day (thus the title The Book of Eli). It’s easy to figure out that this book is the bible as it has a cross on the cover. Anywho, Eli is traveling west on foot across the States. Quickly, it’s proven that Eli knows how to survive, displaying great survival and fight skills as well as resourcefulness. He deals with feeding himself and taking out a group of cannibalistic highwaymen (there seems to be quite a few cannibals in this world as a few times, people are asked to show their hands in case they are shaking as eating humans seems to make you do that). In search of water, Eli comes across a town run by a man named Carnegie. He has big dreams of making more such towns (as they seem to be the closest thing left of civilization after the water/solar thing), but he cannot do so without a certain book that he has his henchmen trying to find. Eli has a run-in with some of these henchmen and is made to stay the night by Carnegie. Carnegie’s blind wife, Claudia, brings Eli some food while Carnegie sends Claudia’s daughter (not his daughter, just Claudia’s) Solara to seduce Eli. This fails but he shares his food with her, getting her to say a prayer with him. When Solara gets her mother to say a prayer with her, Carnegie realizes that Eli must have the book he’s after.  During this time, Eli had gotten out of his room and went to the mechanic to get his battery charger fixed so he can charge is MP3 player. Carnegie tries to stop him from leaving but, again, Eli displays his amazing abilities of combat and walks out of the city.  He leaves the town.

Solara goes after him, in hopes of getting away with him. Eli agrees only so she can lead him to the town’s water supply as he still needs water. After doing as he wished, Solara gets locked in by Eli, who leaves her. She, however, manages to get out and while walking she discovers a woman in trouble (who Eli had previously encountered). The woman, again, is just a plot to get travelers to stop as a group of men come out and attempt to rape her. Eli shows up in the nick of time and dispenses the men with his crossbow (and some poor sucker gets an arrow where he really didn’t want one). The pair continue on together. Carnegie, meanwhile, decides to go after them because he really wants the book. So he and his henchmen set out in pursuit. Eli and Solara come across a house they originally think may be empty but they get caught in a trap. An elderly couple, Martha and George, live there. Martha insists on bringing the pair in for tea. By her shaking, the pair realize that Martha and George are cannibals. The many graves they find in the backyard add to this conclusion. They decide the try and leave but before they can, they are discovered by Carnegie. The four in the house hold themselves up and lose George’s weapons stash to fight but they are no match. Both Martha and George are killed. Carnegie gets Eli and Solara outside. He takes the book from Eli before shooting him and leaving with Solara. While they are driving away, Solara decides not to just sit and let whatever happens happen. Instead, she strangles the driver of her car, causing a distraction. She then destroys one of the other cars with a grenade. She’s able to get the one car for herself before driving off back to Eli. This has left one car with Carnegie and one other guy. They decide not to follow because they do not have the gas. Solara relocates Eli and they begin traveling together again.

The rest of the movie continuing switches between Eli/Solara and Carnegie. Eli and Solara get to the west coast. There they get across the river (or whatever it is) to the city and are introduced to Lombardi. Lombardi is in charge of a printing press which is trying recreate all the religious and important books that were lost after the war/solar incident. Eli tells him that he has the last copy of the bible, which is entirely in his head from constantly reading (as Carnegie has the actual book). Eli begins reciting the book as Lombardi writes it down. It goes to Carnegie who cannot get into the book due to the lock. So he has the mechanic/engineer open the book. As Carnegie finally has the book over, he panics as we learn the book is written entirely in Braille. He tries getting Claudia to read it but she cannot as she doesn’t remember how since it’s been so long. But she does inform him that the town is rioting in the bar below. When it goes back to Eli, it pans in on his eyes and we discover he is blind. It shows time after the bible has been completely rewritten and Eli has now died from his wounds. While Lombardi tells Solara she’s allowed to remain with them, she says she’s going back home (probably to get her mother). End movie.

So, I didn’t find The Book of Eli that bad. I hear a lot of people saying it’s Christian propaganda. I can see where they get it back (due to the big bible involvement), but it also shows all the other religious books that they were trying to recreate and reprint as well. It just happens the bible was the one they chose for this. Also, this is not a child friendly movie at all. The f-bomb’s dropped everywhere and there is both implied and attempted rape in it. But, if you’re old enough and can take the more mature themes of it and won’t go bitchin’ and moanin’ that they’re just trying to promote God, then I think it’s a good movie. Especially with the part with the guy getting shot. I found that hilarious when I really shouldn’t. Well, Sarah and I found it hilarious. Braden and Justin less so.

Characters of Importance

Eli: played by Denzel Washington. He’s trying to get a book to the west coast as a holy voice told him to.
Solara: played by Mila Kunis. A young woman in the employment of Carnegie. She wishes to travel with Eli.
Carnegie: played by Gary Oldman. He’s the antagonist. But he’s also badass cause he’s played by Gary Fuckin’ Oldman. He wants the book that Eli has.
Claudia: played by Jennifer Beals. Solara’s blind mother as well as Carnegie’s wife.

There’s more characters but I find these four to be the really important ones.

Briar’s Book (Circle of Magic) by Tamora Pierce Thursday, Jan 28 2010

This isn’t the cover to the version I have, but it matches the rest of the books I do own. Sadly, they didn’t have this version cover when I went to buy it.

Author: Tamora Pierce
Year: 1999
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure
Protagonist: Sandrilene fa Toren, Briar Moss, Trisana Chandler, Daja Kisubo

Briar’s Book is the final addition to the Circle of Magic quartet. And like the title suggests, it’s main focus is on Briar, though we still see the bits and pieces of what the three girls are seeing/feeling/what have you. While Tris’s Book had a pirate attack, Sandry’s Book and Daja’s Book focused on natural disasters are their main problem (earthquake and large forest fire, respectively). The thing for Briar’s Book is a little in-between as it’s a mass illness that spreads across both Winding Circle and Summersea. Again, I’m not going to say everything because I think it’s blasphemy to spoil a good book and this is definitely a good book.

This book starts off with Briar and Rosethorn on their way to Urda’s House in the Mire. Urda’s House is like a small hospital for the poorest people of Summersea, who live in the Mire. Briar doesn’t typically accompany Rosethorn there. Instead, he meets with his friend Flick, a young girl living in the sewers because she’s a street kid. But when Briar goes to their usual meet-up place, Flick is not there. Instead, Alleypup, another street kid, tells Briar that Flick sent him to get the former thief because she’s sick and he might be able to help. A little skeptical and reluctant at first, Briar agrees and goes to see Flick. What he sees unnerves him and he sends for Rosethorn. Alleypup leads Rosethorn down into the sewers to see Flick. Rosethorn becomes worried herself and they have Flick moved to Urda’s House. Soon enough though, Briar and Rosethorn find out that the sickness Flick has is spreading throughout the Mire, and soon throughout Summersea, and it’s deadly and without a cure.

There is a lot of twists and turns to Briar’s Book, more so than I think to any of the other books in the quartet. So, I’m reluctant to say a lot in case it really spoils anything. But Briar’s Book is definitely a good way to end off the series. And it does it in a way without using any of the big things in a typical fantasy story, such as war, dragons, yada yada. If you read this far into the series,  might as well go all the way, eh?

Characters of Importance

Sandry: young noble girl with weaving magic.
Tris: young merchant girl with weather magic.
Daja: a Trader with metal/fire magic.
Briar: a ex-thief with plant magic.
Niko: a mage who brings the four to Winding Circle. Tris’ teacher.
Lark: dedicate of earth who runs Discipline. Has weaving magic. Sandry’s teacher.
Rosethorn: dedicate of earth who runs Discipline. Has plant magic. Briar’s teacher.
Frostpine: dedicate of fire who works at the forges. Has fire/metal magic. Daja’s teacher.
Little Bear: Dog that the four rescue.
Crane: Head of the Air Temple of Winding Circle.

Prince of Tennis Thursday, Jan 28 2010

Creator: Takeshi Konomi
Chapters: 379
Volumes: 42
Genre: Shounen, School, Sports, Comedy
Protagonist: Ryoma Echizen

I read Prince of Tennis twice over and it’s one of my favorite manga series. For real. I haven’t actually read it in months now but now is a good a time as any to make a random post of it. This probably isn’t going to be all too long because I don’t remember everything that happens, but I remember the important stuff well enough. Spoilers are scattered, here, there, everywhere.

Prince of Tennis follows the story of twelve-year-old Ryoma Echizen. He has recently returned from the USA to attend Seigaku, a junior high school in Japan that is known for it’s prowess in tennis. Ryoma’s goal is to make the regulars, the eight members of the tennis club who competes in all official tournaments for their junior tennis league. Also part of the regulars (and they every now and then switch about when one drops or slacks or whatever. There’s nine of them, including Ryoma, and only eight can make regular) is Kunimitsu Tezuka (captain) Shuichiro Oishi (vice-captain), Eiji Kikumaru, Syuusuke Fuji, Takeshi Momoshiro, Kaoru Kaidou, Sadaharu Inui and Takashi Kawamura. Ryoma, though he’s only a first-year, competes in the ranking matches and knocks Inui out of the regulars.

The first team of importance that the Seigaku regulars come across is Fudomine. These guys were considered the black horse. They were an unseeded team as well as from a public school, rather than a private one like the rest of the big teams. While Seigaku manages to beat Fudomine, they didn’t do so without insult and injury.

As Seigaku continue to work their way through the tournaments to their ultimate goal of Nationals, they encounter many other teams, as well as seeing Fudomine again. The important teams out of these are: St. Rudolph, Hyotei, Rokkaku, Yamabuki, Higa Chuu, Shitenhouji and, mostly importantly, Rikkai Dai. Rikkai Dai is the current champion at Nationals; their team is considered nearly unstoppable. Seigaku must somehow get past this team to win Nationals and become the champions.

Ryoma and Momoshiro

There is a lot of matches they go through and I’m too lazy to go look up all of them to give a synopsis on each and every one they do. Besides, that would take forever. And my attention span is too short for that.

Seigaku manages to work their way through the other teams; on more than on occasion, they barely scrape by. But, they make it to the finals in the Nationals. Lo behold, their opponent turns out to be none other than Rikkai Dai, the current champions. And, unlike the previous match they had against them, Rikkai Dai now has their captain, Seiichi Yukimura back. He was missing previously because he had to undergo surgery. With their fellow teams backing them up, Seigaku takes on Rikkai Dai. And in the final match up, Ryoma, the Prince of Tennis, must take on Yukimura, the Child of God.

Yukimura, captain of Rikkai Dai

Anyways, that’s as much as you need to know. Prince of Tennis is really one of my favorite manga series and I know it’s become quite popular over the years it was done. Even though it ended, Takeshi Konomi decided to grace us all with our favorite junior tennis stars with a sequel. Also, if you watched the anime series, it should be noted there are many differences between the anime and manga, so you might be surprised reading the manga even if you have seen the anime. (that was a long sentence…)

I’m sure there are some turn-offs to Prince of Tennis. The fact there isn’t any real action, such as actual fights, no magic, yada yada, will turn people off from it. That fact it’s about tennis might turn people off. And I’m sure it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But it’s still a series that people should give a go at. Sure, at times it’s cheesy, but it is entertaining. The main cast I find very interesting because each of them has their quirks and their specialties, but they are still your daily, average junior high boys. Instead of making them all some crazy people like most shounen manga do.

Characters of Importance

Ryoma Echizen: protagonist. Youngest member of the Seigaku regulars. Ryoma has the best attitude a twelve-year-old can have, I swear.
Kunimitsu Tezuka: captain of the Seigaku regulars. Tezuka’s known for being good a tennis, being a great captain and being a big ol’ stick in the mud.
Shuichiro Oishi: vice-captain of Seigaku and one half of the Golden Pair. He’s near his partner, Eiji’s, opposite. They call him the mother hen because he constantly worries for them.
Syuusuke Fuji: the prodigy of Seigaku. He’s always smiling with his eyes closed. He’s really talented but doesn’t take most of his matches seriously. He’s also somewhat of a sadist.
Eiji Kikumaru: the other half of the Golden Pair. Eiji is excellent at both doubles and singles and he’s the team’s volley/acrobats expert.
Takeshi Momoshiro: called Momo by most, he’s one of the team’s second-years and one of their power players. He’s originally just a singles player but he picks up on doubles.
Kaoru Kaidou: the other second-year. Like Momo, he’s originally a singles player but can now also play doubles. Nicknamed Viper for his snake-like qualities and playing style.
Sadaharu Inui: he’s the tallest member of the team and their data player. He can analyze a player’s style in seconds. Makes really weird drinks the team’s afraid of.
Takashi Kawamura: the team’s other power player. He’s normally quite meek and sweet, until he gets a racket in hand. Then he goes into BURNING mode.
Kippei Tachibana: captain of Fudomine and older brother of An. Was a top player in his hometown with Chitose Senri.
Hajime Mizuki: strategist and manager of St. Rudolph.
Yoshiro Akazawa: captain of St. Rudolph.
Kentarou Minami: captain of Yamabuki.
Kiyosumi Sengoku: Yamabuki’s star player.
Jin Akutsu: another of Yamabuki’s best players. He’s pretty violent.
Keigo Atobe: captain of Hyotei.
Kojirou Saeki: vice-captain of Rokkaku.
Kentarou Aoi: captain of Rokkaku. He’s only a first-year.
Chitose Senri: member of Shitenhouji and former partner of Tachibana.
Kuranosuke Shiraishi: captain of Shitenhouji.
Kintarou Tooyama: youngest member of Shitenhouji. He’s like a more energetic version of Ryoma.
Eishirou Kite: captain of Higa Chuu.
Seiichi Yukimura: captain of Rikkai Dai.
Genichirou Sanada: vice-captain of Rikkai Dai. Acted as captain while Yukimura was in the hospital.
Sakuno Ryuzaki: classmate of Ryoma who has a crush on him. She’s also the Seigaku coach’s granddaughter.
Sumire Ryuzaki: coach of the Seigaku regulars and Sakuno’s grandmother.
Najirou Echizen: Ryoma’s father.

Triple H doesn’t look like he’s in the mood for a party, does he?

Brand(s): Raw, Smackdown, ECW
Theme Song: Whine Up by Kat DeLuna & Elephant Man
Date: August 26, 2007
Venue: Continental Airlines Arena
City: East Rutherford, New Jersey
Tagline(s): “The Biggest Party of the Summer” “The Party is Over”

Oh SummerSlam. The biggest party of the year. How ya doin’? Anyways…

First match was a tagteam dark match seeing Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch defeat Paul London and Brian Kendrick (I guess he’s not THE Brian Kendrick yet, is he?)

The first official match up was Kane versus Finlay in a singles match. Kane won. Probably cause he’s huge and overly badass.

Second up was a Triple Threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. This match up saw Umaga (who was the current champion) versus Carlito versus Mr. Kennedy. Umaga won, because he’s….well…he’s Umaga. And Umaga just wins a lot.

Third was a singles match with Rey Mysterio against Chavo Guerrero. To be perfectly honest, this one match was the whole reason I got the DVD because I wanted a match with Rey Mysterio in it ’cause he’s one of my favorites. This was the first match Mysterio had since he had to take a hiatus, which was also made because of Chavo for injuring Mysterio’s knee. Anyways, Mysterio won because Chavo is a poohead. <— insert stupid opinion here.

Fourth up was the Divas Battle Royal. This match was won by Beth Phoenix. Out of laziness, have the chart from Wikipedia:

INSERT DRINKING CONTEST BETWEEN MATT HARDY AND MVP HERE. 8D

The fifth match was for the ECW Championship. This won saw current champion John Morrison (previously known as Johnny Nitro) take on CM Punk. Unfortunately, Morrison won this one. I say unfortunately because he used the ropes as leverage, which you aren’t supposed to do, so he pretty much cheated.

Number six was the first main event match. This was a singles match. It was for the two ‘kings’ of the WWE. The King of Kings; The Game; Triple H. He fought against King Booker (accompanied by his queen lady). This, like Mysterio’s match, was Triple H’s first match since going on a hiatus for injury. Supposedly, King Booker believed he was the rightful king of the WWE (weren’t they calling Triple H the King of Kings when King Booker was still just Booker T? I dunno) and that he was going to prove to his ‘kingdom’ that. Alas, he did not cause Triple H won.

Match number seven was for the World Heavyweight Championship. Current champion The Great Khali took on Batista. Batista had good control of the match and it definitely looked like he was going to win. Because of this, the Great Khali actually disqualified himself so he’d lose the match but retain his championship because someone cannot win the championship through disqualification.

The final match is for the WWE Championship and it’s against John Cena (current champion) and Randy Orton. Cena won. I don’t remember much from this match. 8D

Royal Rumble 2007 Monday, Jan 25 2010

Brand(s): Raw, Smackdown, ECW
Theme Song: Drones by Rise Against
Date: January 28, 2007
Venue: AT&T Center
City: San Antonio, Texas
Tagline(s): n/a

This DVD is special because it’s the first wrestling DVD I ever owned (yes I am a loser). And it’s the goddamn fuckin’ Royal Rumble. Which makes it awesome in and of itself.

On a side note, the WWE used to make the best commercials. Anyways….

The first match was a dark match with JTG (accompanied by Shad) going up against Lance Cade (accompanied by Trevor Murdoch). This was a singles match which JTG won (cause Cryme Tyme is epic).

Match number one was a tagteam match with The Hardys (Jeff+Matt) going up against MNM (Johnny Nitro+Joey Mercury, accompanied by the crazy screaming lady Melina). The Hardys won (cause they’re badass to the extreme). Something I did notice with the Hardys and MNM is that, whenever they fight, they are always switching who has the advantage. It’s probably because they’re close in skill and size and all that. But the Hardys have the experience factor, which is why they kick more ass. 8D *biased*

Second match was Bobby Lashley versus Test for the ECW World Championship. Test spent most of the match using illegal cheap shot moves. But when Lashley started fighting back, Test decided he had enough and rolled himself out. Lashley won by count out and kept his title, but he went after Test anyways and continued to beat on him.

Third match was Batista versus Mr. Kennedy for the World Heavyweight Championship. This match could be considered controversial in that Mr. Kennedy had Batista pinned for over a ten count yet still lost. But, this was because Mr. Kennedy had pushed Batista into the referee before pinning him. And I’m sure if you’re just some normal, everyday sized guy, having someone the size of Batista knocked into you must hurt. And so the ref never got to see this pin. After a Batista Bomb, Batista won the match, now that the ref was up. You can say it’s Mr. Kennedy’s own fault cause he pushed Batista. So whatever.

Fourth match was John Cena versus Umaga for the WWE Championship. This was a Last Man Standing match. And I’m sure it’s one of many matches in John Cena’s career where you get to see his pretty face drenched in his own blood. This match was pretty brutal (and Umaga’s manager kept getting involved). But in the end, Umaga couldn’t answer the ref’s count of ten and so Cena won.

Fifth was the Royal Rumble match. And I’m gonna be cheap and just post the listing from Wikipedia:

On a sidenote, King Booker had gotten back in the ring after being eliminated and eliminated Kane, who had knocked him out.
The Undertaker won. (whoot whoot)

Boys Next Door Monday, Jan 25 2010

Creator: Kaori Yuki
Chapters: 3
Volumes: 1
Genre: Shounen-ai, Horror, Psychological, Romance
Protagonist: Adrian Clay

I read Boys Next Door one day when I was super bored and had nothing better to do. It was months ago so I don’t really remember a lot and am gonna have to scan through it to figure stuff out. Good thing it’s only three chapters long. 8D This post is just a short synopsis of the story since there isn’t really too much to it.

The story follows Adrian Clay, an elementary school teacher with a dark past. As a child, he was conceived when his mother was raped so he suffered from a lot of emotional abuse and neglect. One day, she leaves him in the carnival because she does not want him and he manages to walk himself home after two days. Upon coming home, he discovers his mother being stabbed by a boyfriend. When she pleads with him to call for him, he instead stabs her and then blindfolds her from the shock, also coloring in all the eyes on the photos around the house. While during the day he’s just a mere school teacher trying to help his students not receive the same treatment he did, at night he’s a murderer. He picks up male prostitutes and murders them before blindfolding them. One day though a male prostitute named Lawrence (Lawr for short) witnesses one of Adrian’s murders and finds a name tag Adrian accidentally leaves at the scene. Lawr uses this as blackmail to get closer to Adrian.

Anyways, Boys Next Door is a fairly good story though it isn’t the best I’ve read. It’s not for anyone who can’t handle the darker themes such as murder and rape that the story deals with. But, if you’re bored like I was, it’s a good read.

Characters of Importance

Adrian Clay: protagonist. He’s an elementary school teacher by day, killer by night.
Lawrence Hill: nicknamed Lawr. He’s a male prostitute who has an interest in Adrian.
Dallas: Lawr’s older brother and the owner of the prostitute house Lawr’s part of. He likes keeping a tight grip on his boys.
Vicky: one of Adrian’s students who suffers from bullying and neglect since she’s a foster child and a tomboy. She often comes by Adrian’s house to feed Wolfy.
Wolfy: Adrian’s pet iguana.

Armageddon 2006 Friday, Jan 22 2010

Brand(s): Smackdown
Theme Song:
Date: December 17, 2006
Venue: Richmond Coliseum
City: Richmond, Virginia
Tagline(s): “The End…Is Only the Beginning.”

Armageddon was a pay-per-view event for the Smackdown brand of the WWE. This event saw three titles up for grabs.

Match number one was an inferno match. This match seemed hand tailored for Kane to me, which is good cause he was in it. His opponent was MVP. In an inferno match, the ring is surrounded by fire and the only way to win is to set your opponent on fire. The flames can get pretty high up there too, reaching up over the top rope. Needless to say, Kane won. I’d feel sorry for MVP in the way commentator JBL was bitchin’ and moanin’ about it, but MVP got his ass caught on fire and ran around. Regardless, that was too funny.

Second match was a fourway ladder match for the Tag Team Championship. This match originally started out to have current champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick (this is when they looked pretty scrawny) against William Regal and Dave Taylor. But, alas, Teddy Long the General Manager came out and made it a ladder match and then he made it a fourway. He added MNM (Nitro+Mercury) and The Hardyz (Jeff+Matt). Surprisingly, London and Kendrick came out as the winners. I wanted the Hardyz to win. But I always want the Hardyz to win so that’s not too surprising.

Third match was a singles match with The Boogeyman and The Miz. The Boogeyman won. The Miz got wormed. I laughed myself silly, then scolded myself cause it’s gross.

Next up was match four which was current United States Champion Chris Benoit against Chavo Guerrero for the title. It had something to do with some feud involving Vickie Guerrero. Which was great when Chris Benoit won. Cause Chavo and Vickie are lame. But Chavo’s entrance music where it’s all ooooooooooooooh Chavo is hilarious.

Fifth was a singles match for the Cruiserweight Championship. It was current champion Gregory Helms versus Jimmy Wang Yang (who is totally badass, let me tell you). Helms won this match. One of the commentators (I forget who) actually got mad at the audience due to them chanting the match was boring. It was not boring, you slugs.

The next two matches were the main events. The first was a Last Ride match. A last ride match means you have to get your opponent in the back of a hearse (funeral car) and drive them off the entrance ramp out of the arena. This match was The Undertaker versus Mr. Kennedy. If I was in a last ride match, the Undertaker would be the last person I’d want to fight. As I thought was expected, The Undertaker won (of course, he’s my favorite wrestler of all time so I can be a little biased towards him). This match was actually very entertaining to watch too.

The final match was a tagteam match with Batista and John Cena taking on King Booker and Finlay. There was a lot of shit going down, including Hornswoggle popping out of nowhere. After a Batista Bomb, Batista and John Cena won.

Daja’s Book (Circle of Magic) by Tamora Pierce Friday, Jan 22 2010

Hi, this is me, getting off my lazy ass and posting this since I finished it days ago.

Author: Tamora Pierce
Year: 1998
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure
Protagonist: Sandrilene fa Toren, Briar Moss, Trisana Chandler, Daja Kisubo

Daja’s Book is the third novel in the Circle of Magic quartet. And like the title suggests, it has more of a focus on Daja. And, unlike the two books before it, this one doesn’t take place in Winding Circle Temple at all. Instead, it takes place in the Golden Ridge Valley in the north of Emelan. This will not contain spoilers because I’m a freak who doesn’t mind spoiling movies but think it’s blasphemy to spoil books.

The four young mages are accompanying their teachers and the Duke of Emelan has he travels to see what he can do for the people in the north. They’ve been having bad luck with crops, such as drought, and forest fires. While Daja is working at the local blacksmith’s, a Trader comes by. This trader is Polyam, who is disformed after an accident years ago. When she discovers Daja is trangshi (outcast), she begins ignoring her. Shortly after this incident, Daja’s magic gets a little out of control and she makes a what can be considered a living vine out of iron. This vine continues to grow, feeding off of metal on its base and any it comes into contact with. The traders of Polyam’s caravan become interested in it and want to buy it. Daja, who’s been longing for contact with other traders since she’s been outcasted, goes along with the traditional trader ceremonies, if only so she can spend time talking to them.

While all of this happens, the four also discover that their magic is bleeding into each other’s. And it soon becomes too much when Sandry accidentally melts the design on a soldier’s jacket and Briar zaps/fries some leaves. Their teachers decide it’s time to map their magic (shortly after Niko gets annoyed and bans them from using their magic without supervision) so Sandry takes the tasks of trying to map out where their magic is going. At the same time, the forest fires in Golden Ridge Valley begin getting out of control.

Daja’s Book was originally where I started losing interest in this series back when I started reading it in grade six. Over the past couple of years, I decided to give them a try again and bought the first two books. Like before, I enjoyed Sandry’s and Tris’s Books. Once they were out of the way and I had a renewed interest in the series, my dad got me the last two books for Christmas. This time around, I enjoyed it. I still find the first two more enjoyable but that could just be me. Anyways, what’s the point of beginning a series with only four books if you don’t finish it?

Polyam: A Trader who does business with Daja.

See how I always copy and paste this character list, just changing the last person? Yeah, I know. Genius.

hfalhfalgtha;g ECW is epic. The fact this was ECW was one of the reasons I picked this DVD up. That and it had the Hardyz on the back. 8D Hardy fangirl to the end, yo.

First match was a dark match. Featured Stevie Richards and Rene Dupree. It was just a regular, standard match to get the crowd pumped up. Stevie Richards won this match.

Match number one was a tagteam match. This match had Matt and Jeff Hardy: The Hardyz fighting against Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro of MNM (with that damn screamy chick, Melina). This match lasted over twenty minutes, but the Hardyz pulled it off and won.

In the second match Balls Mahoney kicked Matt Striker’s ass. And they were having a special rules match. In fact it was a Striker’s Rules Match, where Striker got to make all his own pretty little rules. And he still loss. That’s kind of sad. He makes a better announcer. Yeah.

In the third match, Elijah Burke and Slyvester Terkay (Turkey, gobble gobble) had a match against The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido Maritato and Tony Mamaluke), who were accompanied to the ring by Trinity. This was a standard tagteam match. Burke and Turkey…I mean Terkay won.

Fourth up was another regular standard match. This one had Tommy Dreamer versus Daivari (you know, that shrimp with the Great Khali). In this match, the Great Khali even got sent away from ringside because he was being a party pooper and helping stupid Daivari cheat. Sadly, Daivari won. Which he shouldn’t of. Cause he smells. (Ohmigod, biased much?)

Fifth up was a mixed tagteam match. This saw Mike Knox and Kelly Kelly go up against Kevin Thorn and Ariel. Before the match started, Kelly Kelly did a little shout out to CM Punk. This pissed off Mike Knox cause he and Kelly Kelly were a thing. So, during the match, when Ariel was kicking Kelly Kelly’s ass, Knox walked off. This of course, meant that Thorn and Ariel won. But Sandman showed up and made some ruckus. Oh Sandman.

The last match was the Main Event. This was an Extreme Elimination Chamber match for the ECW Championship. This had six superstars in it: current champion The Big Show, Bobby Lashley, Test, CM Punk, Hardcore Holly and Rob Van Dam. Sabu was meant to be in the match but something had happened to him earlier that night so he was replaced by Hardcore Holly. Anyways, it starts with two men fighting (Hardcore Holly and RVD) and every five minutes another one was released out of their pod. The other four were locked in pods in each corner of the chamber before hand and each had a weapon: Big Show – baseball bat covered in barbed wire; CM Punk – steel chair; Test – crowbar; and Lashley – table. In order after the first two, they entered CM Punk, Test, Lashley and The Big Show. CM Punk was eliminated first by RVD to pinfall; Hardcore Holly was pinned by Test; RVD was pinned by Test; Test was pinned by Lashley; and The Big Show was pinned by Lashley. And so Lashley was the ECW Champion. Whoot whoot.
